AJKL Ranking & PRIZES
The American Junior Karate League in-person ranking point system consist of 2 separate rankings (Eastern Conference Ranking and Western Conference Ranking). This will allow athletes to obtain points within their region without having to travel all over the country all year around. Then at the end of the year (November 12th) athletes from both regions will compete at the AJKL Open.
Since the AJKL Open will be the highest event with competitors from all over the country, this event will count as double points.
At the end of the year, in each AJKL ranking division there will be 2 ranking winners (one winner from the Eastern Conference and one winner from the Western Conference).
RANKING NOTE: Athletes can only accumulate points in one ranking (Eastern Conference ranking or Western Conference ranking). The double points earned at the AJKL Open event in November will follow the athlete to their ranking accordingly.
WILD CARDS NOTE: If an athlete was not able to participate at the previous events and was not able to accumulate points this season, they still have a chance to make the AJKL Team! From the Gold medal winners at the AJKL Open (ages 12 - 17), the AJKL team coaches will select one male athlete and one female athlete to become the two wild cards (2 additional AJKL Team members).
At each AJKL regional conference ranked event, the medalists will receive the following points in the ranking:
